Those of you from the DC area may remember Don and Mike. They hosted the last good radio show we’ve had, and during one of their segments, they pitched an excellent idea for a show. They would drive up to people’s houses and tell them they won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. They would present a giant oversized check and record them as they danced around and celebrated. After a while they would yell “suckers” and speed away.

Unfortunately, that show would never fly because you’d get sued for causing emotional harm.

Personally, I want a show about the Mexican drug war. People don’t seem to realize how bad it is down there. Over 13,000 people were killed in the first nine months of 2011, and nearly 50,000 in the last five years. To put those numbers in perspective, that’s more dead than we lost in our military conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Somalia, the first Persian Gulf War, Panama, Grenada, Beirut and the Korean War combined.

They should embed reporters with the men fighting that war and let people see what they face on a daily basis. If nothing else, it would probably lead people to start considering legalizing drugs. Last time I checked, cartels don’t control the liquor market.
