Back when Canada was still part of the British Empire, the U.S. and the Brits signed the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. It seems that back then everyone wanted to wear a pimp hat with a giant feather sticking out of it, and the Act was used to protect certain species that were being commercially hunted.
Flash forward about a century, and it was announced last Friday that Duke Energy was pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges under the Act for killing 14 eagles over the last three years at two of its Wyoming wind farms.
I guess the company realized it was pointless to fight the Feds during one of their little witch hunts because it acknowledged in its plea agreement “that it constructed these wind projects in a manner it knew beforehand would likely result in avian deaths.”
And how exactly does one avoid those deaths? These wind turbines are three hundred goddamned feet tall, their blades are a hundred feet long and they’re louder than a lawn mower.
Duke Energy didn’t kill any of these birds. It’s called natural selection, and this is what we get for passing all of those stupid bird conservation laws.
Sure the number of eagles has increased, but now we’re left with nothing but a giant flock of retards drooling and shitting their way across the plains.
If anything the government should be paying Duke Energy for cleaning up the eagle gene pool. Our national symbol shouldn’t be some airborne imbecile that can’t even fly its special ed. ass around the only structures in Wyoming that are over 50 feet tall.
